Meet the Paediatric Dentist

Dr. Shonna Masse

Dr. Shonna Masse is a certified specialist in paediatric dentistry. She treats children from teething to teens, and children with special needs. She is privileged to be on staff at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga.  She is the Immediate Past President of the Ontario Society of Paediatric Dentists (OSPD) and has served on the OSPD executive since 2002.

Dr. Masse graduated with a masters degree in Paediatric Dentistry from the University of Michigan. She is a Fellow in Paediatric Dentistry with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has been a recipient of the Proctor and Gamble Paediatric Dentistry Award and the American College of Dentists Award, and was inducted into the dental honourary society Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Dr. Karen Stallaert

Dr. Masse is pleased to announce the addition of her associate Dr. Karen Stallaert to her staff at the Children’s Dental Centre. Dr. Stallaert is a native of Chatham, Ontario. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario in 1999. She then continued at the university completing her Master of Science in Cell Biology in 2001.

Dr. Stallaert obtained her dental degree from McGill University in 2006. She then moved to Vancouver for a general practice residency specializing in pediatric dentistry at BC’s Children’s Hospital (University of British Columbia) until 2007. She stayed in the beautiful city of Vancouver to practice general dentistry and then moved to Toronto in 2008 to pursue her MSc Specialty in pediatric dentistry at the University of Toronto & Hospital for Sick Children, where she graduated from in June 2011.

Dr. Stallaert has worked in the dental department at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. She has worked short-term in remote Native communities of British Columbia and Ontario. She’s also experienced in treating dental emergencies having worked after-hours call at both BC Children’s Hospital as well as the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
